Music and Artificial Intelligence at STZ05

Challenges and opportunities: Artificial intelligence is the topic of the year. In its 5th edition, SoundTrack_Zurich features four panels focusing on AI that showcase useful applications, new developments and the regulatory framework.

Given that ethical and legal considerations are transversal to all AI discussions, STZ will host two panels on this topic in cooperation with SUISA:

The first panel will look at what musicians, composers and music rights holders can do about the use of their music in training AI applications. This panel will feature Chantal Bolzern (BKS Rechtsanwälte AG), Christian Bremer (Anchor Digital), Ulrike Heinrich (IGE) and Min Li Marti (Nationalrätin).

Aditionally, Chantal Bolzern (BKS Rechtsanwälte AG), Adi Frutiger (Stories AG) and Julian Parker (stability.ai) will delve into how AI can be used in creative processes and how music will be transformed as a result. 

The AI module will also include a case study on THE LAST SCREENWRITER, the first film written entirely by AI. Composer Martin Villiger and producer David Luisi will share insights about the particularities of the project and the work behind the scoring.

Composer Yevgeni Birkhoff will present a Hands-On Workshop on the use of AI tools for composing music.
