Komponisten-Talks bei SoundTrack_Zurich

Die erste Ausgabe von SoundTrack_Zurich (STZ), die im Rahmen des 16. Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) stattfindet, präsentiert preisgekrönte Komponist*innen, die in Case Studies und Workshop Talks über ihre Projekte sprechen – darunter: John Gürtler (Europäischer Filmpreis für „Systemsprenger“), Dascha Dauenhauer (Deutscher Filmpreis für „Berlin Alexanderplatz), Olivia Pedroli (Schweizer Filmpreis für „Immer und Ewig“), Tina Pepper (Deutscher Fernsehpreis für „Rampensau“). Komponist Antonio Gambale wird über die Netflix-Mini-Serie „Unorthodox“ (Emmy) und Sounddesigner Luca Leprotti mit dem Komponisten Marco Biscarini über „Volevo Nascondermi“ (Goldener Bär) sprechen. Stargast ist Ray Parker Jr., der Komponist des „Ghostbusters“-Titelsongs.

Die 2020 auf Netflix veröffentlichte Miniserie „Unorthodox“ (R: Maria Schrader) wurde erst vor einigen Tagen mit dem Emmy-Award ausgezeichnet. Der italienisch-australische Komponist Antonio Gambale, der jetzt in Frankreich lebt, schrieb die Musik, über die er auf der STZ in einer Case Study sprechen wird. Gambale komponiert Musik für Independet-Produktionen bis hin zu großen Hollywood-Blockbustern und internationalen Fernsehserien. Er hat u.a. mit dem Komponisten Philippe Rombi an Filmen von François Ozon und mit Pierre Adenot an „La Belle et La Bête“ („Die Schöne und das Biest) sowie an einer großen Werbekampagne für Cartier gearbeitet.
Die Case Study ersetzt die Veranstaltung mit Stephen Warbeck, der aufgrund von Reisebestimmungen nicht kommen kann.

Nora Fingscheidts Sozialdrama „Systemsprenger“ durfte sich in den letzten zwei Jahren über zahlreiche Auszeichnungen freuen. Zu diesen zählt auch der Europäische Filmpreis für die Beste Musik, die von John Gürtler komponiert wurde. Gürtler wurde u.a. auch mit dem Deutschen Filmmusikpreis für „What is Love“ und dem Deutschen Dokumentarfilmpreis für „Above and Below“ beim DOK.fest München prämiert. An „Above and Below“ arbeitete er zusammen mit seinem Kollegen Jan Miserre, der 2013 den GEMA-Musikautorenpreis in der Kategorie „New Talent“ sowie den Zweiten Platz beim Instant Composing Contest des Transatlantyk Filmfestivals gewann. Das Duo wird bei STZ über gemeinsame Projekte sprechen und Einblicke in ihren Arbeitsprozess geben.

Auch das STZ-Panel Film Music Award Winners 2020 steht ganz im Zeichen von Gewinnern: Drei preisgekrönte Komponistinnen werden auf der STZ ihre Erfolgsprojekte vorstellen. Dascha Dauenhauer (Deutscher Filmpreis für „Berlin Alexanderplatz“) arbeitete bereits an zahlreichen Filmproduktionen und war u.a. drei Mal für den Deutschen Filmmusikpreis nominiert, den sie zwei Mal gewann. Olivia Pedroli (Schweizer Filmpreis für „Immer und Ewig“) ist Sängerin, Komponistin und Multiinstrumentalistin. Die Schweizerin hat vier Studioalben veröffentlicht, Partituren für Kino und Theater geschrieben und mehrere audiovisuelle Installationen geschaffen. Tina Pepper (Deutscher Fernsehpreis für „Rampensau“) schrieb Musik für preisgekrönte Filme wie „Combat Girls“ (R: David Wnendt) und für die Amazonas-Originalserie „You Are Wanted“ (R: Matthias Schweighöfer).

Giorgio Dirittis „Volevo nascondermi“ („Hidden Away“) über den italienischen Künstler Antonio Ligabue konnte sich dieses Jahr auf der Berlinale über den Silbernen Bären freuen. Komponist Marco Biscarini (u.a. “Ennio Morricone Award”) und Sounddesigner Luca Leprotti, die gemeinsam an der Musik und dem Sound des Dramas gearbeitet haben, werden in einer Case Study den Entstehungsprozess vorstellen.

Robin Coudert, auch bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Rob, ist ein französischer Pop-/Rock-Musiker, Singer-Songwriter, Produzent und Filmkomponist. Er ist vor allem für seine Arbeit an Horrorfilmen wie Frank Khalfouns „Maniac“ und Alexandre „Ajas Horns“ sowie für seine seine Filmmusik zur gefeierten französischen Fernsehserie „Le Bureau des Légendes“ („Das Bureau“) bekannt. Zu seinen neusten Projekten zählt der 2020 erschienene Fantasy-Film „Gretel & Hänsel“, über den er in einem Workshop Talk auf der STZ sprechen wird.

Zurich Film Festival

Das Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) präsentiert jeden Herbst während 11 Tagen die schönsten Entdeckungen sowie die meist erwarteten Filme des Jahres. Es bietet eine Plattform für die vielversprechendsten neuen Filmemacherinnen und Filmemacher aus der ganzen Welt.
Das 16. ZFF bietet ein umfangreiches und äusserst vielseitiges Programm: Von den 165 Filmen sind 23 Weltpremieren, so viele wie noch nie. In den drei Wettbewerbs-Sektionen stammen mehr als die Hälfte der Filme von Frauen. Die 16. Ausgabe des ZFF findet vom 24. September bis 4. Oktober 2020 statt.

Composer talks at SoundTrack_Zurich

The first edition of SoundTrack_Zurich (STZ), which takes place in the context of the 16th Zurich Film Festival (ZFF), presents award-winning composers who will chat about their projects in case studies and workshop talks - among them: John Gürtler (European Film Award for "System Crasher"), Dascha Dauenhauer (German Film Award for "Berlin Alexanderplatz"), Olivia Pedroli (Swiss Film Award for "Immer und Ewig"), Tina Pepper (German Television Award for "Rampensau"). Composer Antonio Gambale will talk about the Netflix mini-series "Unorthodox" (Emmy) and sound designer Luca Leprotti will talk with composer Marco Biscarini about "Volevo Nascondermi" (Golden Bear). Star guest is Ray Parker Jr., the composer of the "Ghostbusters" theme song.

The Netflix mini-series "Unorthodox" (director: Maria Schrader) was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music just a few days ago. Italian-Australian composer Antonio Gambale, who now lives in France, scored the series and will talk about his work in a case study at STZ. Gambale composes music for independent productions up to big Hollywood blockbusters and international TV series. He has worked with composer Philippe Rombi on films by François Ozon and with Pierre Adenot on "La Belle et La Bête" ("Beauty and the Beast") and on a major advertising campaign for Cartier, among others.
This case study replaces the event with Stephen Warbeck, who cannot come due to travel regulations.

Nora Fingscheidt's social drama "System Crasher” has won numerous awards in the last two years. Among these is the European Film Award for Best Music, which was composed by John Gürtler. Gürtler was also awarded the German Film Music Award for "What is Love" and the German Documentary Film Award for "Above and Below" at the DOK.fest Munich. He worked on "Above and Below" together with his colleague Jan Miserre, who won the GEMA Music Authors' Award in the category "New Talent" in 2013 and second place in the Instant Composing Contest at the Transatlantyk Film Festival. The duo will talk about joint projects at STZ and provide insights into their collaborative working process.

The STZ panel Film Music Award Winners 2020 is all about winners: Three award-winning female composers will present their successful projects at STZ. Dascha Dauenhauer (German Film Award for "Berlin Alexanderplatz") has worked on numerous film productions and has been nominated three times for the German Film Music Award, which she won twice. Olivia Pedroli (Swiss Film Award for "Immer und Ewig") is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. She has released four studio albums, written scores for cinema and theatre and created several audiovisual installations. Tina Pepper (German Television Award for "Rampensau") wrote music for award-winning films such as "Combat Girls" (director: David Wnendt) and for the Amazon Origianal series "You Are Wanted" (director: Matthias Schweighöfer).

Giorgio Diritti's "Volevo Nascondermi" ("Hidden Away") about the Italian artist Antonio Ligabue received the Silver Bear at the Berlinale this year. Composer Marco Biscarini (Ennio Morricone Award) and sound designer Luca Leprotti, who worked together on the music and sound of the drama, will present the creative process in a case study.

Robin Coudert, also known by his stage name Rob, is a French pop/rock musician, singer-songwriter, producer and film composer. He is best known for his work on horror films such as Frank Khalfoun's "Maniac" and Alexandre "Ajas Horns", as well as for his score for the acclaimed French television series "Le Bureau des Légendes" ("The Bureau"). His latest projects include the 2020 fantasy film "Gretel & Hänsel", which he will talk about in a workshop talk at the STZ.

Zurich Film Festival

Every autumn, the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) presents the most beautiful discoveries and the most awaited films of the year over 11 days. It offers a platform for the most promising new filmmakers from all over the world.
The 16th ZFF offers an extensive and extremely varied program: of the 165 films, 23 are world premieres, more than ever before. In the three competition sections, more than half of the films are by women. The 16th edition of the ZFF will take place from September 24 to October 4, 2020.
