THE PEASANTS Multimedia Concert
by L.U.C. & Rebel Babel Film Orchestra
06 October 2024 · 17:00 · Frame 6
A unique music and video performance based on the feature film THE PEASANTS, Poland's Oscar contender for 2024: The eight-piece Rebel Babel Film Orchestra (RBFO), along with a VJ, conducted by the film's composer Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski, will close this year’s SoundTrack_Zurich on Sunday, October 6th. The film, the latest production of Oscar-nominated LOVING VINCENT's creators Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, is an adaptation of the Nobel Prize-winning novel by Władysław Reymont and is the result of over 200,000 hours of oil painting.
"We invite you to listen live to the most popular soundtrack in the history of Polish cinema with over 60 million streams and an international release by Milan Records", says Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski.
This multimedia spectacle, co-financed by the Polish National Foundation, combines painted visuals with the film's remarkable music. It showcases Polish folk music on a global stage, stemming from the tribes of Wielkopolska (Greater Poland), Małopolska (Lesser Poland), Mazury (Masuria), and Sieradz-Łęczyca, regions known for their distinct cultural heritage. Influenced by Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, and Serbian motifs, this music offers a fascinating anthology of Slavic roots music.
While the score for THE PEASANTS was composed by Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski with nearly 100 musicians from Slavic countries, offering an innovative mix of folk, trance, classical, and film music, THE PEASANTS Multimedia Concert in Zurich will be performed by a special ensemble from the Rebel Babel Film Orchestra.
In addition to THE PEASANTS project, the RBFO has been traveling across the country and the world presenting various special musical projects, such as 100 years of Polish film music, Polish Film Composers in Hollywood, and many more.
