Hands-on Know-How for your Success

Building a sustainable career in the world of film and television music can be a challenge: Musical quality and experience are only part of the equation: today’s music professionals also need to negotiate contracts, present themselves professionally, build lasting networks, and keep up with the latest industry trends.

To support them on this journey, SoundTrack_Zurich 06 offers a programme of hands-on workshops that tackle these challenges and provide composers and sound designers with key tools for success.

Our workshops cover the full spectrum of what the profession demands: Working with Agents, Negotiating Contracts, Business Models of Production Music, Updates on AI Tools, Public Relations and Personal Branding, and an Insight into the work of five European Music Supervisors.

AI Update Tools
This session with composers Yevgeni Birkhoff and Martin Villiger invites professionals across the sector to examine the opportunities and challenges that AI represents for music creators. This panel is an update on practical AI tools for composers, musicians, sound designers and educators.

Public Relations for Composers
Thomas Mikusz of the PR agency White Bear (Los Angeles, USA) renowned, among others, for leading Volker Bertelmann’s successful Oscar campaign, will conduct a two-part workshop where he will share strategies for building a high professional image, including the development of effective communication using social media and websites.

Production Music
Publisher Martin Häne, founder of several successful library labels including Nuvotone (distributed by BMG Production Music), leads a workshop on the dynamics of production music. The session will highlight the differences between film scoring and production music, offering composers tools to adapt their skills for TV, film, and media projects. Through case studies and genre breakdowns, participants will learn how to create versatile moods, raise production standards, and position themselves strategically in a competitive market.

Insight into the Work of Music Supervisors
Music supervisors Eleonora Danese (Italy), Paulina Márquez (Spain), Lucy Bright (England), Rory McPartland (Ireland), Andreas Suttner (Germany) and Antoine Le Guern (France) will discuss their recent projects and provide insights into national market differences, professional workflows, and the challenges of their field. The panel will also explore how AI may reshape the future of music supervision.

Call my Agent
A conversation with Zoë Hart (First Artists Management) and Antoine Le Guern (Agence Gaspard) will shed light on the collaboration between composers and their agents. The panel will explore how agents support careers, open opportunities, and navigate the professional landscape of the music industry.

Negotiating Contracts
Composer Michael Künstle and legal expert David Burger (Sonart) will discuss strategies for negotiating contracts and ensuring fair remuneration. This session, held in cooperation with Sonart, will provide participants with practical insights into protecting their rights and building a stronger professional reputation.
