BACKEuropean Music Supervisors
Talk12:30-13:15 · NZZ Lounge
Our Host is picking the brains of International Music Supervisors and you can watch, listen and learn:
- What’s the job, where does it start and end?
- What’s the challenge?
- Why should there be no movie without a Music Supervisor on board? How to put them to work?
Wether we talk about TV, advertisement or big cinema, the music does the trick. Or not if poorly treated.
This panel is for producers, directors, funders, music industry and composers.

BACKTHE PEASANTS
Case Study14:30-15:30 · NZZ Lounge
"The Peasants" is the latest film from the creators of "Loving Vincent" and the Oscar-winning studio BreakThru Films. It is the result of four years of work carried out by over 100 painters who crafted tens of thousands of unique painted film frames. If a single person were to attempt this, it would take 100 years. The music score for "The Peasants" was created by the award-winning composer Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski, with nearly 100 musicians from Slavic countries, offering an innovative mix of folk, trance, classical, and film music. This project stands as a unique compendium of the most interesting Slavic folk music phenomena, featuring artists such as Maria Pomianowska, Laboratorium Pieśni, Sutari, Dagadana, Tęgie Chłopy, among others. All of this is part of the international Rebel Babel Film Orchestra conducted by L.U.C. The Unlimited Orchestra of Orchestras has already connected over 11,000 musicians from 20 countries. "The Peasants" and its musical score are the Polish candidates for the Oscars 2024.
The musical maestro behind the film, Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski, is the recipient of numerous cultural accolades, including Paszport Polityki, Fryderyk, Orły, Mateusze Trójki, O!Lśnienia Onetu, MocArty RMF Classic, and platinum status. For this international endeavor, Rostkowski has gathered a diverse ensemble of the most intriguing folk music creators, forming the Rebel Babel Film Orchestra, delivering a comprehensive anthology of ancient Slavic melodies.

BACKTHE PEASANTS Multimedia concert
Concert17:00-18:30 · Frame 6
Featuring eight musicians on stage, plus a VJ, the Rebel Babel Film Orchestra and the music film composer Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski will present on Sunday, 6th of October, a unique music and video performance based on THE PEASANTS, Poland's Oscar contender for 2024. The film is an adaptation of the Nobel Prize-winning novel by Władysław Reymont and is the result of over 200,000 hours of oil painting.
This multimedia spectacle combines painted visuals with the film's remarkable music. It showcases Polish folk music on a global stage, stemming from the tribes of Wielkopolska (Greater Poland), Małopolska (Lesser Poland), Mazury (Masuria), and Sieradz-Łęczyca, regions known for their distinct cultural heritage. Influenced by Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, and Serbian motifs, this music creates an unforgettable experience, offering a fascinating anthology of Slavic roots music.
We have a limited number of tickets available, which will be spread on first-come-first-serve basis to holders of a SoundTrack_Zurich 05 accreditation.
Tickets can also be separately purchased through the Zurich Film Festival website.
