How good is my track? On Saturday, October 5, the music supervisors Andreas Suttner (BR), Beda Senn (SRF), Mara Deuschle (APL) and Marielène Froidevaux (Black Stellar Music) will evaluate and give their feedback on submitted tracks.

The tracks should be for a specific film scene or for TV underscore.

The film scene is divided into two moments (see below for a full description). Please upload only one soundtrack/piece for one or each segment of the film scene and/or a maximum of two tracks for TV underscore.

Those who want to participate, have to upload their HI-Res.mp3 files (one ZIP-file named "TrackCheck_yourlastname_yourfirstname.zip") to a server or online platform of your choice and fill in the form below until September 26, 15:00 CEST.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at workshop@soundtrackzurich.com.

A valid accreditation for SoundTrack_Zurich 05 or a ZFF industry pass is required to participate.

Presented by Swiss Music Export.

Pitch your track to one of the following moments of the described film scene

Project: Under the Moonlight

THE SCENE:

Elsa (38) finds her old friend Frieda (40) frozen to death in a freezer in the old house in the mountains where Frieda spent the last six months alone, to find herself. Apparently she found all she needed to find, to leave this world. Frieda wears only underwear, lipstick, a flower in her hair and she holds an almost empty vodka bottle close to her body. She must have drunken and drugged herself half to death and let the cold do the rest. It was suicide and not surprising to Elsa. She knew Frieda had enough of the world and was ready to leave. But Elsa also knew that her friend wanted to die in the mountains, in the snow under the full moon. Frieda must have been scared that someone else than Elsa would find her body, so she chose the freezer instead. Elsa is fulfilling Friedas last wish and carries her friends body up the mountain to Friedas favourite place. She lays her down on the rocky ground, way above the tree line. Elsa sits down next to her friend and waits for the moon to rise. She’s calm, everything is calm now.

Piece 1:

We’re looking for a piece that supports the scene where Elsa opens the freezer and finds her best friend dead. We’re looking for a bit of creepiness, but not too much. It’s dark and painful and Elsa almost pukes when she opens the freezer in the basement of the old house.

Details:      Piece: Score (composed) or commercial piece (by a band/act)
                    Length: approx 120sec

all media (excl. Theatre - only premiers)
                    credits: no

Piece 2:

We’re looking for a title piece that will be worked into a montage for the scene where Elsa lays Frieda down and waits for the moon to raise. She’s alone with the dead body. This scene is about Elsa who is conflicted. She understands Friedas wish to die, she hates her at the same time for leaving like that and she is heart broken for her friend that had nothing left to live for, her mind wanders, thinking about her own life and finally finds some piece when the moon rises.

Details:  Piece: Score (composed) or commercial piece (by a band/act)
                Length: approx 120sec
                Genre: open
                Rights: Publishing & Masters
Vocals: not sure, if suitable… if the lyrics hit the right tone, they can be central. There is no dialogue.

Terms:    in perpetuity
                 worldwide
all media (excl. Theatre - only premiers)
                 credits: no

Clearance: One-Stop or easy to clear.

Underscore is the instrumental music that accompanies the action in a performance. It is usually designed so that spectators are only indirectly aware of its presence. It may help to set or indicate the mood of a scene.

Briefly describe the scene you see for your pieces. What movie, what scene could your piece support?
